If this is the first time you hear that computer programs can speak to you, you will be surprised with this program. Now, you will be able to hear the world's latest news headlines or your favorite websites' updates using 'RSS To Speech'. The program downloads the latest entries from many news RSS feeds like BBC World, Washington Post, NASA, CNN, Yahoo! News and more. In addition, you will be able to subscribe to other RSS feeds. The program then reads aloud the downloaded headlines using the 'Text-To-Speech' engine. The program doesn't offer the possibility to choose different voices as it only uses the default computer's voice, but you can install other SAPI 5 compatible voices from third party websites that will enable you to have your Spanish, German, French and many English accents of male or female voices. By configuring the program's options, you can adjust the speech volume and speed. You can also adjust the interval of news reloading and the seconds to wait before reading the next message. The Interface of the program consists of a small black window; its color and layout cannot be changed. |
